Two new communities led all areas of the city in resale activity of attached homes over the first three months of this year, says the Calgary Real Estate Board.

McKenzie Towne in southeast Calgary and Panorama Hills on the northwest side were the attached home sales leaders between Jan. 1 and the end of March. Attached homes refer to buildings such as duplexes and townhomes.

Brookfield Residential’s McKenzie Towne paced the city with 25 attached home sales. This includes nine transactions in March.

“McKenzie Towne has always been one of our strongest and consistently selling communities in all market conditions,” says Brookfield’s multi-family division general manager Doug Owens. “The community has developed a vibrancy of its own as the people that call it home breathe life it to all of its amenities.”

This includes shops and services that are just around the corner, he adds.

“High Street’s shopping district provides trendy little shops, amazing eats, and easy opportunities to take care of the day-to-day,” Owens adds. He says McKenzie’s rapid transit lines, central town hall and skate park are also part of its appeal.

As for new builds, the community currently offers townhomes by Brookfield.

“We have been building in the community since it started, and we are selling our final few homes in Mosaic Mirage now,” Owens adds. “What has remained consistent throughout that time is that the biggest fans of McKenzie Towne are those who call it home. They are the ambassadors for everything that the community has to offer and the quality of life that comes with it.”
